Description

Otava DTRX2 Dual Transceiver mmWave Radio Card

The Otava DTRX2 mmWave Radio Card uses best in class off the shelf mmWave components to achieve high performance up/down conversion of 2 Transmit and 2 Receive signals, converting mmW signals in the 20 to 30 GHz range to IF signals sampled directly by the integrated high speed RF-DACs and RF-ADCs within the Xilinx RFSoC Gen-3 device. Users may add their own antenna front-end, or use a compatible 8x8 dual-polarized antenna array jointly developed between Otava and Avnet for hybrid beamforming applications and massive-MIMO radio.

Prototype with Xilinx RFSoC Gen3 in the 20 - 30GHz spectrum

The Avnet Wideband mmWave Radio Development Kit for RFSoC Gen-3 is ideal for prototyping RF applications in mmW bands including 5G NR FR2, wireless backhaul, as well as K/Ka band radar and SATCOM. This platform combines the Otava DTRX2 Dual Transceiver mmWave Radio Card - jointly developed by Otava and Avnet - with the Xilinx Zynq ® UltraScale+ ™ RFSoC ZCU208 Evaluation Kit.

Key Features

Otava DTRXX2 mmWave Radio Daughtercard for Xilinx RFSoC ZCU208 Evaluation Kit

  • 2 Transmit upconverters to up-convert the I/F signals from Xilinx RFSoC integrated RF-DACs to mmWave frequencies within 20 to 30GHz

  • 2 Receive downconverters to down-convert from mmWave frequencies within 20 to 30GHz to I/F signals to Xilinx RFSoC integrated RF-ADCs

  • 2x LO PLLs comprised of integrated frequency synthesizer and an on-chip VCO

  • Digital Step Attenuators (DSA) for gain control via SPI and parallel interfaces

  • Digital control to enable/disable each signal chain depending on the TDD mode of operation

  • TDD and FDD modes supported with appropriate RF front-end

  • Power management section to generate all the necessary voltage rails for the devices on the DTRXX2 daughtercard
